2011 Community Paddle Results

We held the Potomac Whitewater Festival two weeks earlier this year to get better water, and it paid off in a big way!  The river was a perfect 3.7 feet and we were blessed with sunny, 85 degree weather for the Community Paddle.

Nobody wore a costume this year, which meant more prizes for on-water events such as a 10-kayak boom run, a stand-up-and-balance-in-your-boat-for-20-seconds contest, and a sunken boat race through Maryland Chute.  Here are the winners:

• Kayak boom run: Noah Beakes
• Balance contest: Jason and Noah Beakes, Patricia Jenson, Will (?)
• Sunken boat race: Fern Abrams (1st) and Kevin Rogers (2nd)
• Tandem canoe and only canine competitor: Mr, Mrs, and Rocky Lutter

Thanks to all the participants for making it a wonderful afternoon.  I hope to see everyone again next year, when we will add a Nerf football game and even the odds for playboats in the sunken boat race by requiring people to drain their kayaks at the finish line!
