Attainment Race

A Potomac Classic

Sunday June 26, 8:00 AM

Event Location

We will meet at Anglers Inn lower lot at 7:30 AM for the competitors meeting and the race will start at approximately 8:00 AM.

NEW THIS YEAR – TWO COURSES

The race will follow two classic Potomac attainment routes: from Anglers Inn to Rocky Island, and further upriver to Fishermans Eddy.. The start will be at the put-in.  Racers are free to choose any route upstream to the finish lines.

We will have two finish lines this year and competitors have their choice of which race to run.  The short course will finish in the big eddy behind Rocky Island on the Maryland side. The route is just under 2 miles long.

The long course will start at the same place and time at Anglers and the finish will be in Fishermans Eddy on the Virginia side. This course is about 2 ½ miles long.

PORTAGING IS PERMITTED.  However, it wouldn’t be honorable to win the race by portaging when others are attaining the same rapid, so portagers must suffer a 5-minute penalty added to their time.
